It’s that time again! If you’ve been following me for a while, you know that every other year, Aly Ollivierre and I conduct a survey of freelance mapmakers. The 2022 survey is now out and awaiting your data!
I hope you’ll share this widely, so that we can reach enough people to have a meaningful dataset. And please consider filling it out yourself — whether you freelance a little, or a lot. It helps our community grow stronger through a better understanding of our value.
If you want to get notified when the results are available, you can sign up for an email list here: bit.ly/cart-list.
Also, if you’ve already seen me & Aly spam this announcement across various Slack channels, social media, etc., thanks for your patience. We really want to reach as many people as we can with this important work.
Hi Daniel. Came upon your work through a google search. Do you know of any software that would allow you to create these types of beautiful relief maps for fantasy worlds? I would love to have software that would allow me, through different sized brushes, be able to “push down,” and “pull up” areas on a map and generate random terrain at the same time.
I’m afraid I don’t. I’ve certainly played computer games that give you that sort of flexibility to shape terrain, and I’m sure there are other such things out there, but I haven’t really delved into fantasy terrain, myself.
